 - Stage your home like a Professional. -

When selling someone's home, you no doubt consider how their rooms are decorated and what the potential buyers will think when they walk through that home. Don't despair! You don't need to hire a professional decorator or sign up for a home decorating Television show. Stick to a few decorating principles, and the home will look like it stepped out of a magazine.

Think in threes. If at all possible, group pieces in odd numbers. Large paintings and other pieces may be able to stand-alone. Small items should be grouped together so they function as one unit. This means candle holders, floral arrangements, vases, and even photographs should be in sets of three or five.

Less is more. I know it's tempting to show each of your child's school pictures along the hallway wall. By the time they are in high school, there just isn't enough wall space left. Choose your favorite photographs, paintings, and other decorative items to display. Keeping only your favorites out will help them be more prominent in your decorating scheme.

Monochrome colors. Photographs and paintings usually vary throughout your home. Choose one color for all the frames in each room. Feel free to mix the shapes, styles, and sizes of the frames. The single color will unify them and present a polished, yet stylish look you will be pleased for your buyer to see.

Sometimes we may think that our house is gorgeous. In our eyes it is, after all beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. In some cases I would say Beauty is in the eye of the "Beer holder" since some people just do not notice their house is a wreck. Be gentle when approaching your sellers. They don't want to imagine that their house is a mess. Be gentle and send them some links. Just  have faith that you know how they can stage their home like a professional.
