I am curious now that
the dollar is
worthless in Europe
does that mean services we offer the Europeans should be more? So
basically where is future of SEO and web
2.0
As most of you know I am a natural born geek. Or so I would like to think of myself. I love reading about the latest gadgets especially where SEO is going or not going. I am also a member of several social networking groups from LinkdIn to My Space to Facebook etc. I am all over the Internet and it has helped in my credibility. Most notably I can say I rarely spend any money on advertising my services. I have joined several job posting sites like Guru, iFreelance and GAF to name a few and I probably pay around $300 a year to have my website and work available. Needless to say I also have my own website where I offer my services from SEO writing to consulting translations etc. So yeah I am a busy woman, with that said I have had several clients contact me in regards to their website optimization. The funny pattern here is I got these clients not from my paid subscriptions but from the "free" ad on Craigslist. One potential client (I use that term very loosely) was from South Africa, he owns or I should say runs a travel website (not sure he owns it). Well needless to say I responded in a generic fashion since I don't like spending too much time with these "potential" clients since I get queries everyday. When you are in business for yourself you really cannot spend much time responding to these emails since 9 out of 10 times they never bother responding or saying thanks for the information. Which was the case with my South African client. Then a few days later I had another Potential client from the UK asking for the same thing wants me to check out his website and give him an estimated cost of what it would take to SEO his site. Again I don't waste my time and simply send them back an email with something like "thanks for contacting me, please let me know whom I would be talking to in regards to your query". Why do I do this? Well because 9 times out of 10 no one ever answers. So unless I get an answer to a simple question or response I have learned do not waste your time. Most of my latest queries have been from Europe, even though I have to admit I did get a rude client (US and Chinese Offices) just the other day "demanding" I cut the B.S. and tell him how much it would cost to optimize just 3 Keywords. When I tried explaining that the process was much more complicated than just optimizing 3 keywords he wrote me back with the speed of light he has had 12 teams of SEO writers and he has yet to get results. Well you can imagine what I responded with. I was nice polite and very cordial, but I did tell him he did not need my service since he has had 12 teams of SEO professionals and they should do their job. Yeah I couldn't help but tell him Exactly what he had to do and I even told him this was a freebie since he was having a hissy fit. I so dislike men that whine. I actually dislike women who whine too, but more when men do. In conclusion the future of SEO is definitely going towards Web 3.0 wherever that may be. Since we are now in the age of Blog+Social Networking+SEO is how you get readers to your website. Once I understand what the heck Web 3.0 then I may be able to discuss it in a comprehensive manner. Until then stay cool and come back I have a couple of great sites to share with you. You are probably wondering what does this have to do with the future of SEO and Web 2.0? A lot actually, since we are in the US we are much more savvy and up to date with SEO techniques and where SEO is going in regards to the future of the Internet. Therefore all the articles I have been writing about what you should do and what you shouldn't do are valid. Europeans still need us regardless of the strength of our dollar. |
